The dome will be located in the Trader Ridge area and will include a FIFA-sized soccer pitch and space for other sports such as football, baseball, and lacrosse. The facility will also have an auxiliary building with locker rooms and storage areas. The project is budgeted at $10 million, with additional funding potentially drawn from reserve funds. Mayor Jackie Clayton emphasized the facility's importance in meeting growing demand for indoor recreational spaces, particularly for soccer. Completion is targeted for Spring 2026.
- The City of Grande Prairie has introduced a "Community Enhancement Fund," designed to support beautification and community projects without raising taxes. The fund will allocate 10% of any budget surplus from the year toward these initiatives, allowing for additional improvements. Previously, such projects were funded through capital taxes, but this new approach ensures that enhancement efforts can proceed without burdening taxpayers. The fund will support projects like public art, landscaping, and other community enhancements, with the public art reserve now part of this new fund. The initiative ensures funding only when surplus money is available.
