It’s Standing Committee Day on Tuesday! A meeting of the Investment and Strategy Committee, originally scheduled for Tuesday, is cancelled. But, the Financial and Administrative Services Committee will meet at 9:00 am. The agenda includes the 2024 Audit Service Plan as well as in-camera (secret) discussion about an undisclosed item.
- To continue with Standing Committee Day, the Operational Services Committee will meet at 9:30 am. The Committee will discuss negotiating a Gift Agreement with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities for the donation of an inclusive playground in Lion's Park called the “Jumpstart Inclusive Playground.”
- Finally, to round out the day, the Public and Protective Services Committee will meet at 9:45 am. The agenda includes the Community Group & Family and Support Services Funding.

Grande Prairie has launched two initiatives to address the local healthcare workforce shortage, focusing on attracting and retaining family physicians. The Family Physician Attraction Incentive Program, part of the City’s Healthcare Attraction and Retention Strategy, offers incentives and strengthens local infrastructure to encourage physicians to practice in the City for at least three years. The program also supports the integration of new doctors and assists their families in settling down. The second program, the Grande Prairie Healthcare Ambassador Program, aims to engage community leaders and volunteers to help welcome new healthcare workers.
- The deadline to submit nominations for the 2025 Passionate Heart Awards has been extended to January 28th. The awards celebrate individuals, teams, and businesses that have made a significant impact in improving the community. Categories for 2025 include Exceptional Service for front-line workers, and new awards for Exceptional Team, Business, and the Chris Henderson Lifetime Service Award. The awards will be presented at the Passionate Heart Celebration on February 14th at the Bonnetts Energy Centre, with tickets available for $30. Nominations can be submitted online.
